Art Before Swine!
“Art Before Swine” is a new art collaboration art project by you
and me!! I have little plastic pigs (9cmx4cm) that I’m sending all around
the world to different artists to be customized in anyway they feel. Then
sent back to me to be shown in a gallery first here in Amsterdam and hopefully
further. There are no limitations to the customization of the pigs!! All mediums
are welcome!
If you would like to customize a pig, please send me your house address to
justinkees@gmail.com. I will send you pig as quickly as I can.
The name you ask!?!?!
Well it comes from the cliché “Pearls before swine.” Which
originally comes from the bible Matthew 7:6
The scripture reads:
“Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”
Which in normal words means “There is no point in giving luxurious
gifts to people who don't appreciate them.” And is my response to the
accusation that the art we put in the streets makes cities look dirty! I feel
that we are taking the blame for the commercial posterers who do litter the
streets with way to many posters.
The art that is put in the streets is not only to brighten them up, but also
to maybe bring a smile to the face of a passer by on what would be a normally
dull day in a big dirty city!
Lets not let are artistic gifts to cities around the world go unappreciated!
